Default Fuel flow adjustment

I am sure this has been asked before and at one time I knew the answer. Old age will take that from us all.
I need to adjust the fuel flow? screw on the top of the injection pump my 1981 300SD.
To lower the fuel getting to through the injectors, and hopefully the smoke level, to I turn that screw in or turn it out?

Thank you and you are most likely correct on all points.
I had not touched that aneroid adjusting screw for over 7 years. This old beast was getting a little smokier, especially at idle. I still have not touched that screw and now it seems to have cleared at least some of smoke screen it was throwing out.
I know those injectors have 150k miles since last rebuild. I have little time right now, but will get another can of Diesel Purge and see what that does. Might be a little dirty in there.
Just replaced the air filter and the oil and filters get changed every 3500.
Have fuel filters sitting there waiting for me to put them in place.
Sounds like a couple of hours are in order.

I know that this is an old thread but if the Injectors have 150K on them there is a good chance that the Injector Nozzles are worn out.

But, do the free or least expensive things like as suggested; adjusting the Valves.

Fuel Injection Pump timing?
