hello im new to the forum and mercedes all together really

i have a chance to buy a 1983 300d for $700, one i would like to know if thats a good buy, its got 230,000 on it the interior is very dirty and trashy buy the body is fairly straight and not rusted out (I own a bodyshop so im not too worried about that) Ive been around diesel motors all my life but never anything this small

also the drivers window doesnt go up or down, do these cars have to vacume operated motors? ive heard horror storys of tracking down those leaks but since diesel motors dont make vacume that couldnt be too hard if thats the case

how hard are parts to come by for these cars? i live in ohio and plan to drive to philly a few times a year with it after i go through everything first

any imput will be appriciated thanks!

 

what are these worth in an average condition? (rust fixed interior cleaned up) this thing runs like a top

is there anything to look for? ive never owned a MB before, and not too many cars for all that matter

 

oh yes before i forget again it is a turbo car too, like i said it runs like a top, the guy claimed it sat for about 3 weeks i went out pushed the glow plug button (pretty sure that isnt factory) and fired it right up ran without any misses or loud rattles, it started and ran better than my old cummins
