engine swap 300d in a 240d?

engine swap 300d in a 240d?

I have a 1982 240 diesel,manual trans with no motor. Can I put a 1976 300d motor , auto trans, into the 240? keeping the manual trans

so I take the flywheel off the 240d or in this case buy a new one and then put it on the 300 engine and take the whole engine? in to get it balanced....that sounds doable. Any other quirks that I should look out for?
