Cleaning 300TD Cooling System
There are lots of particulates in the overflow container - including what appears to be rust.
My plan is to remove the container and wash it out - then to flush the system.
Is pulling the hoses at the top and bottom of the radiator and flushing it using well water under pressure from a hose a good place to begin?
This initial radiator-only water-only flush would be followed by a 10% citric flush & rinse according to MB specs.
Also, I have read elsewhere that inserting a stainless steel tea strainer (remove the handle) in-line with the upper hose is a good way to capture particles.
I'm presuming that the density of the screen filter used should vary from larger holes to smaller as the system shows signs of cleaning - otherwise the screen will clog too quickly.
WDYT?
Thanks!
