i found a 1980 240d for sale locally with a broken timing chain....

would it be worth it to buy?

im worried about any damage that might have been done to the engine when the chain snapped....

what are the possible damages and how much time and $ would it take to fix?

 

the cam stops spining and some valves are open, but the piston can go up and down. So theirs a good chance valves are bent Not that familar with that engine. My thoughts are if you figure on a recond head, timing chain, gaskets, labor, mileage, & the condition of the car is it worth it to you. Plus you do not know about the rest of the driveline without it runable. When running, it will be sloow
