Just got this car and love it but..

It seems to be loud in the exhaust department. While at 60-70 mph, the exhasut tone is clearly audible from the left rear of the car. It burbles when lifting off the gas at these speeds as well. It has 97K miles on it. Any of you E300D owners please comment on whether this seems normal or maybe my muffler's shot internally?
