Default 85 300D Ignition

My 300D will not shut off with the key. It will start fine and everything but will not shut off with the key and will let you take the key out and walk away. You have to get out and shut it off with the linkage under the hood. Is there any common problem areas of chaffing wires or something simple?

Default Fix

Vacuum leak between Ignition lock (or beyond) and shut off valve at injection pump, or valve itself not working.

I had a similar problem. I had to change all door lock diaphrams and some of the connecting hoses between the plastic tubing. I also changed the drivers door master locking cylinder. The door lock diaphrams cost about $35.00 each. There is one on each door except the drivers door. Problem solved.
If your going to keep the car, I highly suggest you invest in a small, hand-held vacuum testing pump, not very expensive and will save lots of time and guess work.

Good luck,
Bob

Default 85 300d ignition

I just had the same problem yesterday because I put on a new prefilter and accidently knocked off one of the small vacuum lines in that area.Knew it had to be something in that area as it worked fine before I had my hands in there. Now if I could figure out how to get the air bubble out of my prefilter.

Sorry havent been on in awhile. I havent found the problem yet. All the vacuum lines are intact and hooked up. I need to find a little bit more time to investigate more. Thanks for all suggestions.

Well I finally got around to looking at the car more. I started it up and turned the key back off. I was inspecting the brown vac tube going to the injection pump and the rubber connector that connected it was badly torn and old. I put a new one on and end of story. Fixed the problem. I wouldve never found it back there by the oil canister if i wasnt looking for it. Thanks
