I have a 1978 300D with a tranny problem.....tranny won't go into 3dr gear...i can get it to shift 1-2 but no 3-4 shift.....could that be the modulator?...also i dropped the pan and there is no material in the pan....fluid is bright red....any suggestions?

 

For the relatively low price of a new mod (versus a serious trans problem) I'd give it a try. Worst case scenario is you have to perform some other type of transmission repair, but at least you have a fresh vacuum modulator.

 

i'll try the modulator......also does anyone know if i can change the modulator with the tranny in the car?

 

I never have had to change it, but I was under the assumption that you could.
