1987 300D Turbo
My 87 300D Turbo with 126k miles, sat for almost 5 years before I had possession. With a new battery the car started right up. The only problem is the turbo is not producing boost to the engine.
Any suggestions where to start on trouble shooting the turbo not working?
The recall on the turbo has already been done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Except for the turbo the car drive great, getting over 30mpg.

According to the repair dvd the turbo should produce .9-1 BAR or 12.5-15 PSI boost. The most likely cause is a leak in the intake manifold boost pressure sensing hose to switchover valve and from there to the ALDA on top of the injection pump. Replace these rubber hoses and blow compressed air through the plastic hoses once removed to clear them of soot which finds its way from the dreaded EGR valve. Also take a small needle tip and clear any sludge from the hole in the ALDA where the hose plugs in. Sounds like your problem is that you have a leak in the Achilles heel of the pump enrichment system. The less pressure delivered to the ALDA, the less enrichment and less boost.
*MOD EDIT* Removed VERY bad information that could cause severe engine damage and catastrophic turbo failure.
