1982 300TD lost all oil on highway
Hi,
Driving on the highway today when I noticed the oil pressure gauge was dropping. I pulled over and found that the dipstick was out an inch and oil had apparently sprayed out of the dipstick tube? There was also oil spray on the rear tailgate - from the exhaust I guess.
I refilled and gingerly drove home - no more dramas.
I have owned the car for 4 years and there has been some oil blowback fouling the airfilter, which I gather is due to worn piston rings............I am thinking this is just the piston rings finally saying goodbye? Just curiousas to why what appears to be excess pressure would expel oil form the dipstick tube?
Time for an engine rebuild?!
