The previous owner stated they had the engine replaced many years ago. I looked at the block and I can make out 617 011 09 018. Is there to find out if this engine is for a 1980 or some other model/year? I tried to get a few different parts like air filter and fuel filter and both were alot larger than what is in the car right now.

 

Are you speaking of the Spin-on Fuel Filter (Secondary Filter) or the Plastic (Primary) Filter as being too large?
If the Plastic Primary filter is larger it does not matter. It just means some one bought a generice filter and installed it.

Also by saying 300TD are you meaning the TD to mean you have a Station Wagon or are you using the TD to mean Turbo Diesel?

 

I am speaking about the spin on filter. The one at the auto parts store is too large. THe primary is the same. I called Mercedes today and looked up all the engine models and can not find mine. He even checked European models. The car I have is a 1980 300td non Turbo. I was hoping the replacement came from a previous Turbo charged car so I can do an upgrade.

 

How about the Maker and part number of the Spin-0n Filter that Does fit?
