I've acquired a parts car - 1979 300SD

It's complete. I haven't heard it run or crank. I was told it has a rod knock.

I have been told that a bad injector can cause similar symptoms. I don't know if this is true or not. What is the most expedient way to determine the condition of this engine?

I have a 1983 300SD with a similar problem.
A Mercedes tech. told me it could be a bad
precombustion chamber,as well as a injector.
He said a carbon buildup in the chamber could cause the noise.
I got mine to run, (very rough). It quit running after I changed the oil
and added Marvel Mystery Oil about a pint.
The car is in real good shape. A silver blue color with blue leather.(No rips)
I also have a 1982 300D. Cherry condition. 376K.
