Radio problem
The previous owner of my 79 450 SLC added an aftermarket Sony sound system. He also dumped the OEM becker, too bad. Anyway, lately I have a buzzing noise in the left rear speaker. the way the new system is set up is a follows. there is an amp in the trunk which drives the two rear 3way speakers. These speakers can be tuned via the radio for subwoofer response of full audio range. The front speakers are the stock OEM and are in good shape. The noise comes and goes with the engine.
There was a aftermarket yellow electric wire coming from behind the wall that is between the trunk gas tank and rear seats and ground to the body near the jack on the right interior rear quarter. The wire broke. Nothing happened for a week or so and then the buzzing. I have gotten the noise down toa reasonable level by adjusting the setting on the Sony, but it is still there.
My limited experience with audio in cars, tells me that speaker noises that come and go originate in the ignition system , ie coil. As far as I know there was never a noise supressor on the coil. I think, but not sure, the former owner grounded the speakers with the yellow wire. Which according to the owners manual is a no, no. Also, the amp is not the greatest, it is old, As I did do to a local audio shop, whom I have used for many years for my home audio and cars, back when they all had so, so audio. the tech told me these amps haven't been made in many years, however the radio with CD player is top of the line. He didn't give me any suggestions, except to change the amp. Aside from the buzzing the system sound very good and the sub woofer response is very good also.
Should I go to Radio Shack and buy a noise supressor? If the coil the correct place to mount it? Or is there something else going one?
Thanks

Did I understand you correctly when you said it DID NOT make this buzzing sound when you got the car, but now it DOES? If so, I'd check for loose or damaged wires/connections for the speakers and amp, and possibly a damaged or loose antenna. If those are okay, fiddle with any adjustments. But, the amp may be defective.
Have you added any aftermarket or repaired any OEM electrical items since buying the car?
Noise suppressors are a bad choice, IMO. They not only suppress "noise," but they also suppress music. They filter out a given frequency range which includes the noise AND the music in that range.
Also note that there has been an unusually high amount of sunspot activity recently.
