Thank you for all that info on my car. You must know more about it than my local MB dealer. However I have had no success with the 6310i working in the cradle, but I did try a friends 6210 which worked perfectly, using the dash display etc. and all ther other in car features.

The firmware on my 6310i is v5.2X and i know the newest firmware is v7.0. If I get it upgraded to v7.0 do you think that will make it work?

 

software with older than 5.10 should be okay.

 

Hi guys, I'm going to put my 2 cents worth in now. Unfortanately, your car, being a 2002 model, doesn't have what is called a UHI interface. If it did, you would just need to change the handset holder and away you go.

I have had experience in changing these phone systems from a 6210 to a 6310 and can tell you that your dealer is correct to say that you need a new control unit. The control unit is hidden away in the boot of the car and is called a CTEL interface. There is a different interface used for the later 6310.

Have checked everything including the card in the back of my service book and i agree that 6310i (v5.22) should work. Also just tried another 6310i with no luck. What are your suggestions. Should i visit my dealer and get them to check out the cradle?

No it won't be the cradle if the 6210 works. You need an interface unit, and, Oh, look, the phone interface you need has just popped up on Ebay in Australia. Isn't that where your from?

Steve sells MB UHI kits and PSEs for the 6310I ..I Have The 6310I and It Works Great!
Then add a V/R kit for hands free!
