Default 420 SEL radio

Can anyone tell me how to pull out the radioi in my 1987 420SEL?
I have the ashtray and holder removed but cannot figure out how to get the radio out. It's the original Becker radio/cassette. Once out, I will try to fix the cassette player or put in a new radio/cd.

Thanks.

can anyone tell me how to pull the radio on my 87 420SEL? I got the ashtray assembly removed but am at a loss as to how to procede further. The radio is the original Becker.

Thanks

If you haven't already removed the radio, it is very easy once you find the tabs. Get eye level with the lower edge of the radio unit...you should see 2 slots on the lower edge. I just slip a slimflat blade screwdriver in the slots and pull on the unit at the same time. To pull it, just slip your finger tips into the cassette slot and pull on the lower lip. There is no wiring harness for aftermarket stereos that is made for the w126 so it will be a splice in for the new unit. Hope it helps.
