Greetings from Ireland!! My luck with second hand mercedes cars has gone from bad to worse..hence the name deflated!!. My first Merc was a 1992 300D which had automatic gearbox failure (twice), and i will not even mention the list of problems that i had with my next car (same model).My most recent buy is a 1998 E300D Turbo, which seemed to be in good mechanical order at the time of buying, but has decided to develope an engine clank every 10-12 secs approx. Even though the engine is running at idle speed, the clank causes the engine damper bar to compress slightly and release. Any ideas???
