Exclamation Decision with Tire size on New Rim

Hello,

I have a 2007 CLS 550 and purchased the car used with 15,000 miles and aftermarket rims and tires

currently I have 19" rims that I believe are 245/35/19 on the front
and 275/30/19 on the back (nexxen tires)

I had a problem a couple weeks ago, hit a dip on the freeway and cracked the right rear rim, bent both front rims took it to the body shop called insurance and got paid out cash

I went to a tire shop who got the exact rims I wanted in 20's, but im finding that the tires seem extremely thin and I dont want to run into this problem later with a bent rim again, the rims are 20X10 back, and 20X8.5 front.

the tires are Toyo Proxes-4 in the following sizes:
255/30/20
295/25/20

in the rear thats giving about 1 inch thickness and the fronts are about 1 1/4 inch thick, is this too thin for the CLS on 20" rims...because it seems like it is, I know theyll LOOK good, but should I bump up to what I have now at 35 front and 30 back (I know the current rims bent for this reason but thats because I hit a big big dip in the road that was created by the rain the previous week and had made almost a large pothole between the street and the bridge on the freeway with a huge gap in between)

Please if someone has any idea id appreciate it!!
