I'm selling my late-Father's 1988 560SEL. 140k miles. Smoke silver with brown leather. Interior is inpretty nice condition. Body looks to have been resprayed at some point. Visible rust spots are found at the front edge of the fenders where they meet the bumper fascia and at a few points along the side door guards. There's a mild dent on the drivers door. SLS needs attention (very bouncy ride) and I've ordered 2 new accumulators and picked up a pair of good condition shocks though I think the accumulators will do the trick as there are no leaks. Also have 3 liters Pentosin. Tires are nearly new Pirelli's. Motor had a miss at idle due to a faulty fuel distributor. I replaced and now for some reason the car smokes like a mosquito fogger. No water in the oil and compression test yielded 140 +/- 5 lbs on all cylinders. Pressure tested cooling system and no leaks. I'm baffled. Drove the car 400 miles home and no problems. Now I try to "fix" and the smoking starts. Minimal time to fiddle so perhaps someone willing to resolve will get a decent deal. Update: I let the car run long enough to get warmed up. Checked the underside of the oil cap and saw the dreaded milky white. I'd guess the car needs a head gasket. New low price: $1500/offers.
