FS idle speed control unit, early 560

Mercedes idle speed control unit $165

New VDO, in MBZ box

List $320

My 1986 560 SL is hard to start and the fuel mixture meter is going to the far right and then when it finally starts it runs okay except at idle. Would this idle speed control unit cause this?

The trouble is, it could be many things. Too tough to diagnose thru email
