i have been wondering for a while, there seems to be a trend going on with faccelifted mercedes models, i have observed that each facelifted mercedes actually looks worse than pre facelifted version from front, and i only mean front, when i say this, i mean in terms of being more brash and dare to say somewhat uglier. i am baffled by this, it is strange, because facelifted versions always display better interior enhancements and rear of car, such as tail lamps but it's always front that catches me out lol,

a super example of this is w220 s-class, if you look carefully, fornt of pre facelift has simple beauty and elegance, whereas facelift has too much brashness, and is uglier imo anyway for example grill, bumper, clear lens etc, but interior is obviously better with better switchgear etc, same can be said about rear lamps. this can be said about almost every facelift in history of brand with few exceptions which imo are;

204 c-class, this model for first time actually outclasses it's forerunner from front, obviously interior and rear are dramatically enhanced over last model. also can be said about w211, w221, thats about it really lol.

only thing about mercedes is, they modernize facelifted car too much in design to match that of a newly launched particular model, such as c-class with e-class for example, what tends to happen that model sort of loses it's charcter and personality, i reckon pre facelift of any model is how the car should be, how it was originanly designed, unlike a facelift which adds design 'steroids' from newer models so to speak, it would be a lot better if they retained most of original character and made minor modifications, such as interior equipment or etc., just my opinion. having said all this, do remember i mean obnly for front not any other aspect.

i think future facelifts would be better as w221 displayed back in 08' and latest example of 204 c-class.
