I recently failed NYS emissions inspection. I took some simple steps to fix this before I ended up in more costly repairs. I changed the air filter, spark plugs and wires. When I was removing the wires from the distributor, I inadvertenrtly cracked the center plug. I thought that I may have severed the electical connection, but the car started right up and ran smoothly. The next day I took it back to be reinspected and the check engine light came on, but then went off. The car passed after two test but the CO reading was high (9.0 - 15.0 is the limit)
Driving to work today the check engine light came back on and it's staying on now. Could this be related to anything I did?
