hello just bought a 711d merc truck have a few questions firstly am i in the right place or is there a truck forum?firstly when warm have probs with 1st and reverse gear get a loud whirring noise like not in gear properly when lift the clutch and sometimes 2nd????also what is next to oil filter looks like being fed from thermostat it is leaking water well i think its from there but i am pretty sure it is the 364 turbo engine cheers peter[&o]

 

364 is not installed on 711 model. 9or maybe i haven't encounter it yet).

could you please give us your VIN?

was it using electronic drive control? you feel it's from pressure plate or release bearing? how much is your mileage?

was it single or double filter type? it can be possible for a fuel preheater. does it go to the heat exchanger on thermostat housing?

 

thanx for reply found water leak!still have gearbox noise though any ideas engine is a 364a 3.9 turbo diesel 5 speed box no judder from clutch and pulls well in other gears but does make noise when lift clutch in 1st and reverse when warm and 2nd sometimes your ideas would be greatly apprecited peter

your clutch noise could be the clutch release bearing.
