Default RE: Would You Fly This Airline?!

THis picture reminds me of another China Airlines' (owner of Mandarin Airlines) accident.
On May 25th, 2002, China Airlines CI 611 departing from Taipei to Hong Kong.
The plane disappeared on the Taipei Control Tower radar about 20 minutes after take off.
Later bodies and wreckage were found on water near Penghu Islands.
There were also "parts" of the bodies found on the island of Taiwan in ChangHua.
Improper maintenance probably caused this accident. The plane was a 20-yr old Boeing 747-200, the last passenger 747-200 in the fleet, which was on its last round trip mission before being converted to a cargo plane.
Unfortunately, the plane never completed its last mission.
This accident has been in my memories since the day it happened because my mom was supposed to be flying from Hong Kong back to Taipei on CI 612.
China Airlines has a horrible reputation for safety. The airline is state-owned and this is the company air force pilots work for after they leave the military. Many of China Airlines accidents were caused by human errors. Pilots believed they were expoerienced and believed (too much) in themselves.
