If I may weigh in.
The USA having a permanent base and friendly governments near Iran and Israel will be good in the near future and potentially long term. It is too bad we have to do this. If certain people would stop welding a sword, we could return home.
It is also too bad the USA has become the enforcement arm of the UN, which is why we are in Iraq in the first place. Too bad we ignored Rwanda, but that was the UN's call.

Too bad we are the only true superpower left cause it all falls in our hands plus if we have no other superpower to fight with we go after smaller problems seeing them as big ones and also we start fighting among ourselves more. Its sad but look back through history Rome is of course the best example they had no large power to fight so they took over smaller countries and then spread resourses too thin and i think we know the outcome.

I would just hate to see another Cold War situation develop. The Cold War sucked the life out of Russia and almost sucked the life out of the US. BikerDrew may not agree, but the superpowers need to find a common cause, like exploring space. We're doing it with other countries now, including Russia, but we should go full bore on that and stop worrying being able to blow each other off the Earth.
