I just read an article in a U.S. News mag. that compares the first Bush to the second Bush. And according to this article, the main similarity that it refers to is of course the war in Iraq and the surprisingly different approaches that each one took. The second Bush did do it in a lot different way.

Another think that can help or hurt the way a president that father was president is viewed and expected to act is how the father (or brother in this or some future president's case.) acted while he was in office. Just think, what will people think if Jeb Bush ran for president? They probably will refer back to G.W. Bush term, just as they refered to the first Bush term when the second one decided to run.

I think they will but i think that G. W. has done so badly in both parties eyes that we would not even get the Republic nomination let alone win any election against another person.

Did any of you watch the Governer of VA talk after the State of the Union. I thought it was quite a poor job he kept saying "There has got to be a better way" i wish he would have at least made an attempt to tell us a better way. Sounded to me as if he is just like begging or something.

I don't think we will see a repiblican that high for a while. Or at least not like GW. in worst case scenario. It's sad when your own party is basically trying to distance themselves from you and your approval rating within your own party is trash.

I know one thing though, the next President has his work cut out for him. It's like moving in somewhere with a bunch of probs and the landlord is saying fix it or else because the last idiot left it in shambles. ("As if" speaking)

Any Dem pointing to GW as a reason to not vote for Jeb is wasting his time. The Repubs would welcome such a tactic. It focuses on something unimportant as opposed to something important like the issues.

Ratings polls are for sitting presidents. They don't care about ratings during their presidency after they leave office.

Every new president had his hands full, including Dubya when he took office. This is especially true if there's a party change. This is nothing new.

Yeah but any president that has to follow a war-time president especially if the war is still going the way it is now. I mean think about how bad Truman had it? Doesnt get much worse than that. Though that was not a party change obviuosly.

It's hard to have a discussion with you. You keep switching course. GW doesn't care about his ratings. Too bad for Truman. Whatever.
