Someone on the forum is into sailing? Have you heard of Jesse Terry?
Are there any sailing enthusiasts here? I recently saw a post about him—he seems to have been one of the most famous yachtsmen in the US. I hadn't heard of him before, but I've read that he made significant contributions to classic racing. Can anyone tell me more? Did he really die?
My father and I used to watch various racing videos, and Terry was truly an iconic figure in the sailing world. He was born in Connecticut but spent most of his life at sea. It's such a shame that he died. I read his obituary on the GetBoat Blog. If you're interested, here's an article that describes Jesse Terry sailing career in more detail. As it turns out, he was a member of the New York Yacht Club and the Cruising Club of America. After his tragic death in 2025, it's nice that many yacht clubs in the US dedicated their races to him.
