Default Retirement Age--85 by 2050?

85? I'm glad I'm retired. I jumped ship early at 50. Screw working. I can't imagine working until 85. I'd shoot myself... in the foot or something.

Might keep Social Security afloat for a while if they move fast enough!

"Might." That would suck to work until you're 85 and then have no Social Security checks coming in. I'm glad I don't have to rely on it.

but by 2050, life expectancy will be over 100.

you may go to the hardware store to buy a new arm or just clone a new liver in the convenient of you home.

nano submarines can reconstruct hardening arteries or clean those tar filled lungs from smoking.

blind people can see by using artificial eye made of camera wired directly to the brain with computer. (that 3 kilos computer will be just the size of an aspirin that time).

too bad. we cannot live long enough to see the day.

now i have to continue working on my time machine....

Yeah, it sucks that I have to wait until I'm too old to move anymore to retire. I better hit the lotto or something.

Smoking probably will be banned by then. I don't even have a desire to live to be over 100 years old. Why? By fifty most of the major events of life are gone already. What next, they raise the drinking age to 45, the voting age to 32? And the way this technology is growing, by 100 you'll be more of a collection of gadgets and celluar tempering than just a good old fashion human being. I think people will eventuall become more careless. Why stop smoking if they have things that can clean my lungs out easily within days? Why stop drinking heavily if I can always just buy a new liver? Why not blow my brains out a few times, if they can just put me all back together again. "I don't like my nose, I wanna buy a new one." "I don't like my hair, let me buy the asian variety." "I want my kids to look like angelina Jolie." Geesh. I can see it now. All those statements will be a common place one day. And I hope I'm not around to see it. I guess I must write in my will one day, no I don't wanna be cloned, gentically altered, or brought back to life.

I think they are trying to find ways to prevent people from collecting that money for long period of time, which means more money in someone else pockets.

Then again, will you go to jail if you killed ya clone? My guess is that they will charge you with suicide.
Note: Suicide is against the law but no one ever lived to be charged with it.

Life expectancy over 100? They need to dump healthcare/SS now then. We don't need billions of old people over 60 on it, dwindling younger generations income.

Retire at 85...yeaahhh...about that....

Your parents haven't forced you work yet? That's very suprising.
