Great, MazdaCaddi, you've joined a rather exclusive club. Nice, pic! Did I go to school with you? New Canaan, CT. and Springfield College, MA. No, it's not a pickup line- you look familiar to me. Please list your whereabouts for the last 20 years so I can know for sure.
Now, that was a pickup line.[sm=happybounce.gif]

gee, thanks.

No, I'm afraid not. I went to school in Bath, Maine and college at Charles County Community College in La Plata, Maryland. College is where I met my husband. He was my computer professor...

yes, I got an A in that class.

Been married for 19 years & 2 weeks now.

I have lived in West Virginia for the past 18 years, Maryland for a year and a half and Maine before that.

MC, 20 years ago i never thought there was computer subjects already. was it something like cobol, fortran, dos, or programming?

as far as i can remember, when that famous word processor machine fades out, i started using pc xt by ibm.

the floppy disk was a real floppy disk then.

Ah yeah, the mainframe heydays. I remember working on an IBM mainframe with 8K bytes of memory that was eventually "upgraded" to 64K--it lived in a huge room... had banks of 6ft tall, 9" tape drives... punch cards... Executive Control Language (ECL) for machine instructions... machine language programming... having to think in binary and hexidecimal.

Those were the days of bad-*** programmers, though. It took more thought back then than today's programmers are capable of. They guided a metal blob (space capsule) the shape of a rock to the moon, landed it, and returned it back to Earth with astronauts inside that were still breathing when they got here. All with computers with 256K bytes or less of memory.

Today, I look back on all that and... PUKE.

Anywho, I used to live in Waldork, er, I mean Waldorf, before moving further south to Georgia three years ago. LaPlata is still a sleeping little rural town. Kinda nice. There's a fast food place there south of town (on Rt 5) that makes their own root beer and serves hand-dipped ice cream. I loved their root beer milkshakes--mmm mmm. Do you remember it got leveled by a F4 tornado in 2002? When downtown is only a block-and-a-half it doesn't take much to blow it off the map. It was scary. I lived only a handful of miles to the north.
