Newer Model Diesel Engine in a W126
I have a 1986 300SDL with a bad engine. Does anyone know what is involved in installing a newer model diesel engine such as the OM642 from a E320 CDI into a W126 chassis?
Would it mount correctly? Would it bolt to the W126 automatic transmission?
Is there a garage who does this type of work?

Doesn't need to be a E320 CDI Engine
The electronics involved will make the job extremely time consuming and expensive. To pay garage hourly rates for the job would surpass the cost of buying a used E320 CDI.
The computer uses a CAN bus system so the engine computer is dependent on data input from transmission and body computers.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to import my 1986 SDL into a country which prohibits any diesel engine from before 1994. So, I'm looking for a 1994 or later diesel which will go into a W126. Doesn't need to be a E320 CDI.
