Default Mercedes pocket knife from the 1940's

Hi!

My first post: I've a pocket knife that my grandfather got from his brother who was Merecedes salesman back in the 1930-40's in Sweden. The knife is in very good condition with the original leather case fully intact. So, does anybody know if this item is worth anything?

I don't know its age, but it's probably from the 1940's and I think it's from Germany.

Nice post and welcome to the forum. Most items made in Germany duing the late 30's and early 40's had socialist party markings. Does yours have a swastika on it? That may help with aging.

Thanks for the replys. It says "Rostfrei Solingen" on the knife. There's no swastikas.

Solingen is Solos gene.

That knife is pretty interesting. It looks very valuable imo

i have similar knife, though i cannot say it came from the 40's - the blade has INOX SOLINGEN GERMANY on it, the nail file on the opposit says ROSTFRE, and the isn't a secondary blade but rather a bottle opener with INOX. it is MOP like yours but the the insignia is opposite direction - the top faces towards the nearest end rather than yours which faces towards the center

i have had it since i was a kid the 60's , my dad had a (I think '54) 300s and a (i think '58) 220s both hardtop coupes - mostly they were stored at Oakland European Motors - anyways back to the knife it may have been in one of the cars and i claimed it.

anyways, i am really just curious if you ever found value or history - your is the as close to what i have as i could find...

No idea on the knife, but "INOX" is a Spanish-language abbreviation for "inoxidable" or "rust free".
