Default Dealer wars

I purchased my car from a dealer outside of San Antonio (Boerne). That dealership was opened to compete with the one in the city. So... 2 MB dealerships in the area. I get my car from Boerne (and of course get a license plate frame with their logo).

When I wanted to install the iPod, I called both dealerships to get Labor quotes, and the San Antonio one gave me a better deal. So today I went there to have the iPod integration kit installed (at $431 with parts/labor, BTW). Everything was done fine, I got my car and drove home. I parked the car and was walking in the rear and noticed that.... the dealer switched out my plate frame for theirs.

I looked inside the car and didn't see my original frame. It's not that I really care... but doesn't that constitute THEFT?

Last time I purchased a vehicle from a dealership, I told them to take off the plate frame. They asked me "why? aren't your PROUD of where you got it?" I laughed and asked them to compensate me $250 per month for advertising fees if they wanted to leave it there. They laughed, and removed the plate frame.

I remember the days when a dealership had it's own metal insignias installed on everyones trunk lids (destroying it in my opinion). You could not buy a car without one.

Get a custom frame, please.

I like my plates covered with anti reflective plastic sheilds. Slightly illegal. My front plate is in my trunk.

I've looked at custom frames, and I can't really find anything I like. Any suggestions?

I think that's pretty normal. For all the San Antonio dealer knew, you were going to have your car serviced with them from now on.
Most people have a relationship with the dealer that maintains their car, regardless of where it was purchased. Now, if you told them you wanted to keep the original frame and they had a problem with that-well, I'd find that a little bizarre. Just my 2-cents.

BTW-What did you think of your Acura TL and why did you sell it?

Oh, I loved the TL. That car had more gadgets than a space ship. Mine was a full A-Spec version (Black/Black) with every possible option.

Just one day I was driving by the MB dealership and stopped by to take a look at new models. Then I found out that the CLK as updated and now has a bigger engine. Then I gave a very low ball offer and my phone number and left the dealership. In about a week I received a call from them, exceptin my offer, so I traded in the Acura. It was just a series of events, that caused me to trade the TL for CLK, because I really didn't intend to. The deal that I got for CLK was just hard to pass by.

prior to buying my current daily driver, i went to the dealership that i did because they didnt mark the car in any way...they did gripe about taking the plate frame off, so when i went outside to drive away in my new car, i grabbed the bottom and snapped the middle of it off...whee the name was...and brought it back in, and put it in the garbage...

however, the dealership where i worked, put decals on the cars...[:'(]
