Oh my God, I cannot believe what I just read. I am literally watery-eyed right now. Lugnut was one of my favorites on these forums! He will be in my prayers for sure. My sincere condolences for his family and friends.

Travis, at the risk of sounding insensitive, do you have any plans for your uncle's telescope? We had discussed it before, and he had indicated that it was too large and ungainly for him, and that it really required permanent housing in an observatory. I know eactly what unit it is, and I agree. I happen to have an observatory on my property, but currently have no telescope. If you're interested in selling it, please feel free to contact me.

Oh, OK -- never mind then. I remember he wanted a smaller one that he could handle more easily.

yes.

that 14 inch MEADE was huge as he said. more than 200 lbs.

he swapped that one with a car! (his-car....guy-meade) when he got it. until now i am still wondering what car it is.

i am also looking for a smaller telescope which at least less than 20 lbs. that would be good enough to see mars.

anyway, i think travis is his favorite nephew eventhough travis don't like vegetables as his father do.

in fact, he was planning to dismantle the CHEVELLE and send it to me piece by piece because he says i got no car

of course he was only joking, but it somehow makes me feel good.[sm=smiley17.gif]

Yeah, the 14" Meade is what my observatory is set up for, and the exact same one the previous owners had. Here's a pic -- the roof rolls off.

In reply to all the talk about his stuff i have been thinking about getting a vette and would be honored to have Lug's but i would have never been the first to start this topic. But its out of my price range for sure. (i fell bad just saying this) But in true Lugnut fashion we are getting off-topic soon enough. lol

In truth, I only brought up the telescope because of the very small pool of folks who might be interested in such a leviathan...
