Default 9500ix Escort Radar Detector Review-Dissatisfied Customer

I know there are never-ending debates about radar detectors in this and other forums, and I wanted to let everyone know of my recent BAD experience with Escort. I have had an Escort 9500ix GPS-equipped detector for around a year and a half, and I purchased the extended 3 year warranty with it that is suppose to come with free updates. All has been well until Escort announced on its update site that they have added a feature to the 9500ix that detects what is called TSR, which basically eliminates false K-band signals from traffic sensors on highways in some regions. They noted that folks who bought units with certain serial numbers had to send them in for the update.

Here's the rub. They want $59.99 to perform the update even though I am covered under their extended warranty. It is my penalty for buying an early serial number unit. Needless to say, I am completely dissatisfied with Escort, who would not budge on this payment policy, and would suggest folks look elsewhere for a high end detector.

Im my opinion go spend money on a Valentine1. youll never leave home without it. ive had one for over 10 years and its been the best 400 bucks I ever spent. no other radar laser detector compares. tells you how many radar sigals there are and their postion...front..back....side. I love mine.

FI - I travel at least 750 miles each week. Detectors do work. I probably can't convince you, but they have told me to slow down well before I ever saw the revenuer and before he could have picked me out of the group.

Lasers are a problem though, agreed. But maybe half or less departments have them.

I'd rather have some warning than none at all.

I have a Beltronic STI which is hands down number 1 in being 100% undetectable from radar detector detectors which is much needed in the areas of Va...I'm originally from NY where speed is a must just to even keep up with the elderly out there! lol But the speed traps in the south is off the chain! So it's cat and mouse out here! And with a Black Cherry (Purple) S500 on 20's I stick out like a sore thumb, so let the games begin!!!!!!!! and just for the record it is a serious matter so don't mind my sarcasms...
