It looks like the SL will be yet another great car with the new styling. My only concern is the black circles Consumer Reports gives it year after year. These cars are waay more reliable than anything American, yet they receive the worst rating? Maybe it's because of high regular maintainance costs?

Most likely... I'm not a huge fan of the styling, but I'm pretty sure as a Mercedes it will be of good quality. Consumer Reports is pretty much useless, IMO. Toyota = God in their book... Hyundai also ranks higher than Mercedes on their list... lol. I've only been close enough to a Hyundai to know that it nowhere near comes close to Mercedes - at least in build quality, style, performance, and luxury. Yeah they're cheaper to maintain... Woo hoo.

Toyota's problems are starting to surface with upper management denying alligations and failed quality control measures. They aren't what they used to be. Food for the thought Biased Reports...

Totally agree. Consumer reports are useless and don't show an accurate picture. BMW was highly rated in the reliability reports, but almost all my friends' bmw had electrical + computer problems. I'm talking about a 530i (my previous car), 530D, 330Ci and 325i - all had problems. Although the 5th guy's BM is still running without issues. That's 80% of people I know who drive BMW had serious problems!! These are all quite new cars!

On the other hand, I know3 guys who own MBs, 2 out of 3 of them had minor problems - both C180s. At least they are minor!

On the Toyota front, look at their F1 team!
