Another win for Paul Efantis, his 03 Toyota Solara beat blasted the Luis Ferrer’s Celica. It was close but at the end Paul pulled it off. Anybody here go to NHRA events?

A weenie Toyota racing another weenie Toyota. Yeah, just what I want to see.

I traded in my 2000 Solara for my SLK. It was a great car. Not fast or anything, but definitely sharp looking, great gas mileage, and was pretty peppy for a 4 cylinder. Since when was Toyota known as rice?

 

It's a Japanese car. What does "rice car" mean to you?

 

Ricer car to me is a stickered up Honda with a loud muffler that does nothing performance-wise. There are respectable Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, etc. Look at the Toyota Supra for example...that is one amazing piece of machinery. As well as the Mazda RX7. The drivers are what makes a car a "ricer".

 

A Toyota can be stickered, have a buzzing coffee can exhaust tip, $5,000 tires and wheels, a wing from a 747, and a 105hp four-banger. Wouldn't that be a ricer car? Certainly not "respectable."

A stickered Ford Escort or Dodge Neon with the same is just a stupid car, not a ricer car.

If other car manufacturers ignored emissions requirements as Toyota and Mazda did with the Supra and RX8, repectively, there would be a lot of "amazing" cars around. Alas, they've chosen not to do that in order to sell cars worldwide.

 

Yes, a Toyota CAN be stickered with a Boeing wing attatched with expensive wheels, but there's people that do things with taste, and others without. But it's not right to automatically classify a Toyota or any other Japanese made vehicle as "rice" without there really being any reason to make it a ricer. As I said, it's the driver, not the car itself. But to each their own. I, being a car enthusiast, keep my eyes and ears open to EVERY car out there. I don't care what it is. It could be an old, beat Yugo..but if they've got some amazing motor setup and power induction...I am going to respect the car. Not because it is a Yugo, but because of the driver that made it that way.
