[:@]Its very frustrating to discover that most of the wiring in engine is shredded. I've seen alot of chatter about this problem which is helpful. WHat would be more helpful at this point it to know if there are cheaper harnesses than the sticker shock price of $920 that I've found.

I presume you have one of the HFM injected M104 engines 280 or 320 which suffer from the well known biodegradable insulation problem ?
Depending on how bad your particular car is , it is possible to purchase the loom in sections ; thus instead of £300/£400 for the full thing you might get away with one part an one or two hundred .
I have known others to cur open their connectors and re-fabricate their loom with new wiring , but that is very labour intensive .
