Hi all,
I just purchaced a 1999 vito 113 (manual)
When I test drove the vehicle I noticed there was a terrible crunch into 3rd gear both on up and down shift.
The van was well priced and being a mechanic by trade I decided to purchace it and fix it up myself.
I got it home and drained the oil, the oil that came out was new so the previous owner obviously had it changed trying to fix the problem.
I replaced the oil with Caltex synthetic gear oil and Nulon additive, (no change)
I then replaced the oil with a mineral type again no change.
Last step before pulling the box out I drained and filled it with Redline Shockproof light (not cheap at $36aud per quart 0.9L!)
I could not believe the result, Absolutely amazing crunch GONE and the gear changes smooth as silk.
I recomend Redline oils to anyone that is having similar problems, or even if you want a smoother gear change.
