Default RE: VIN Decoder

Hi, I'm a new owner of a 05 C230K and new to this forum. Thanks for the link to the VIN decoder. I just want to verify that any of the options listed under my VINare indeed factory installed on my car? The reason I'm asking is mine lists option code 531 - Automatic antenna but mine has the stubby satellite looking antenna on the back window. Also, is there a way to research to find out more about each specific option, like option 949 - Equipment package mk-line?

Thanks again,
Jay

I have a 2008 C300 Sport.....is there a way to prevent the front grill from being stolen, other than screwing it down? I almost lost mine, however the clips have been broken. I placed some tie-downs to secure it for the time being...thanks

Default Mercedes VIN Goof-Up?

Hi everybody! I've been bit by the diesel bug again and have a chance to get a 1982 Mercedes 300TD station wagon. Trouble is when I enter the
VIN on CARFAX and other VIN sites it says: "Invalid VIN, indicator # has
been changed."
Now I checked and the "indicator number" is a digit in the VIN that
supposedly helps to show if the VIN has been altered. The car in question has a clear title and is 28 years old. Its not new-looking but the old diesel cranks right up and runs good.
Has anyone else had this problem? The factory data plate on the driver
door jamb looks original and I've double-checked the VIN. Only thing
I'm concerned about is if the DMV runs the VIN through and IT comes
up questionable, will I be able to get a new title, (title is 10+ years
old from the last owner)?
Thanks, Mercedes fans! I know the diesel wagons are rare and I want
to jump on this one. Any help will be appreciated. Ken
