Vacuum Pump issues 1977 240d
Hello:
As the title says, I'm having issues with the vacuum pump on my 1977 240d. It started with the brakes going soft, followed by the engine not shutting down upon removal of the ignition key. I tracked the problem down to the vacuum pump and ordered the rebuild kits...it's the old style pump with two connections. The large rubber diaphram has a slice in it caused by the failure of the large disc/washer located beneath it...after removing the large diaphram, the disc/washer fell out in three separate pieces. Where can I find a replacement disc/washer...and...how worried should I be about any of this 'junk' getting to my oil pan? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
David
