Default Vacuum issues 240D

i got an 83' 240D and while driving the other night the trans acted real unresponsive and didn't shift well and when i went to pull over the brakes were extremely tight. I figure there is a leak or something wrong the vaccuum system. I went and got a tester but haven't really worked on the vacuums before. where and what hoses should i check and what could fail besides hoses leaks.
thanks.

Yeah, I am interested in seeing what replies you get. I am experiencing a similar problem with my 85 since I accidentally knocked some of my vacuum hoses out while fixing something else and as a result, it now has slower pickup. In addition, the car will not shut off by the key anymore and the trunk will not lock either. I spoke to aguy at the Mercedes dealership and he said there are miles of vacuum line in these cars. Ugggh Good luck.

ok i tried blocking those off. the tester would show about 4 in of vaccuum on the system. then i would touch the brake and it would go straight to 0. what should i be looking for in vaccum readings and what areas should i even be testing, or is there a leak in the master cylinder or something.
