Looking to buy a first or second generation early 90's to 2002 E320. Any input concerning the straight versus the V? I have owned 2 MB's and 2 BMW's ... I like the ease of accessiblity of the straight 6. Just curious if any of you have noticed any great increase of perfomance, ride and / or increase / decrease of mpg in comparing the two engines. I tend to do my own maintenance for two reasons, 1) former airplane mechanic, I enjoy fixing "things" and making them work, 2) can't afford to pay a mechanic. I suppose working on airplanes taught me to respect the engines and frames that hold together, thus the tendency to favor the German engineering. I just replaced a broken exhaust valve spring on a 2006 Dodge 3.7 engine with 80K. I am scared to drive it any farther. Thanks.
