Starter Mercedes?
I have tinkered with cars for many years, and I have recently started thinking about buying a Mercedes. I am not looking at a haul away, but rather something I can pick up and both drive and work on. Any suggestions for a MErcedes newbie that wants to learn about the brand and pick up something in the $5K range to fix up/recondition?
I just took the plunge. I bought a 1982 over Thanksgiving. These cars are reported to "last forever". They seem easy to work on, still easy to get parts, plenty of Indy wrenches around to do what you do not want to take on yourself, and they are just kind of cool. They sound like an old diesel truck, but that is just one of the things that makes them unique. Good luck and let us know what you decide to purchase.
