Hi I have a 2001 S320. It has been standing and the battery needed to be replaced. The RAC turned up and jump started it. I put a new battery in. Bosch £102. I drove it round the block and the instrument lights flickered and went out. The rev counter does not work. It starts easily but the head lights come on when in the off position. If I put the head lights on and pull out the foglight switch the headlights go off. It is ver frustrating ! Can anyone help please.

 

the clusters have a recall. you get a new cluster out of it. call the dealer to see if your car qualifys for a new cluster.

 

Would the failure of the cluster affect the head lights ? I turn the car on with the headlights at 0 and they come on. Something strange going on. If I turn the headlight to the second position and pull out the switch twice the headlight go off !
How do I get the cluster out please. There appears to be two slots for a tool.
