Default newbie w/minor details question

Hello all.

I am a newbie. Call me griff. I purchased a 98 C230 about two months ago to provide some economy for my sometimes long commutes. I love it! Good ride and outstanding gas mileage(especially compared to the Tahoe I was driving). And, I really like style of this version of the C series.

I have been a car-nut since 16 and that was a long time ago. In addition to the C230, I have a Tahoe (for sale) a 1989 GMC pick-up and I am restoring a 1959 Triumph TR3.

I did just run into my first two issues on the benz. I was going to change the oil last week-end, and I could not see/figure out how the rear of the engine cover comes off the bottom(front was easy)

The second issue was the oil pan bolt was rounded. (I just purchased the craftsman specailty tool for that but haven't gotten the car back in my shop yet.

Can anyone help with the one piece cover removal techniqe (rear bolts/screws ??)

thanks and looking foward to trading stories.

Hi Griff,

I think you'd better ask in the C Class Forum. I don't think the MB oficionados even take a peek in this forum. If you really want some quick answers, the service manual in CD helps. I find it useful.
