Just bought my first BENZ! Curious if people on this forum think I should purchase exrended waranty on a 03 E500 with 40,000 miles. Also, my car seems to run hot versus my last cat which was a nissan Z. Is this normal for the E500 to run almost halfway in the oil temp gage! Finally how does the crazy phone feature work, I am at a loss. Thanks for any assistance it is good to be aboard.

First, I think you should buy an extended warranty and you will see how much benefit to have it. My extended warranty saved me two time of major parts failure. You may need to pay some extra amount to add on your monthly payment if you were financed like I did but it gives a peace of mind. Specially your cas is near new and low miles, buying an extended warranty will earn you a lot of protection. Secondly, the oil temp gauge is stand almost half that is normal I heard some of my mechanics told me the normal operation temp is between 80 - 90 F Degree. My 2000 E320 was operated always between that range. That is normal to Mercedes Benz. About the phone, I am not sure about the newer model but my model, all operation is in the command center and at I reviewed the new model, the operation is kind of complicated and I suggest you to check it with your local dealer, they will help you free. If I stand in front of your car, I can show you how but I has no pictures of your car so not sure what I could help. You may be able to go to Mecedes Benz web site to search for User's Manual or simply go to Google website or Yahoo and simply type in: " How to operate the built-in cell phone in 2003 Mercedes Benz E500. ALSO BE AWARE THAT YOUR MODEL YEAR IS THE FIRST YEAR MERCEDES BENZ REMODEL THE E-CLASS SO SOME OF FAILURE REPORTS. BUYING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO DO BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURS.
