Hi folks, I have always admired the mercedes sedans and thought about buying one. Well that time is here and I am looking at the 1991 420 sel. What is a fair price for these models?..I have seen them from from 5k to 20k. I realize the ones with low m iles and in perfect condition are worth more but ther seems to be a wide gap with theses cars. I have been told that a mercedes with say 80 or 90 k on the odometer is low miles and they run a long time. I saw 86's and 87's with over 200 k so I guess thats true. Is the 420 a good choice?..and did they have any consistant problems with this model. Are the 420's tempermental and require a lot of repairs?...I just found a 420 with around 80K and it's beautiful in side and out. Is 9500.00 to much for a one owner car in nice shape?..T again I am a newbee and would appreciate some advice from the experienced Mercedes owners out there. Thanks in advance Ted

 

Hey newbie, another newbie here. I just bought a 1989 560 SEL with 79K on it, paid $7200. You just have to negotiate...of course I will inherit some problems, but should experience that as the car is nearly 17 years old. Good luck with your search!
