New mwmber with question
I recently purchased a 1984 500 SEL at an auction. The car didn't have a key so no one wanted to risk a purchase but I took the chance. I contacted the local dealer and obtained a key and the car started and seems to run fine! Being 20 years old, it has a few problems but overall it is in pretty good shape, the body is exelent. I don't know how long it sat idle but I changed the motor oil, filter and anitfreeze and I am discovering a few things that need to be addressed but that was to be expected. The bigest problem is that I can't get the trunk open. The key provided by the dealer fits the ignition and doors and the trunk lock but the trunk lock push button won't open the trunk. I'm not sure if there is some trick to it or some special way of pressing the lock button but I can't get into the trunk. Is there a way to get into the trunk through the back seats? The nearest dealer is 200 miles away and I don't want to take it in unless there is no other way. Any ideas?

RE: New mwmber with question
Are you saying, that the key fits the trunk lock and turns it, but the lid will not open?
Do you feel any different resistance, while pushing the button after turning the key?
Chances are, that after long sitting the gaskets dried on the lid and need better push to let it go?
