new member here with hybrid ranger diesel
Let me start by saying this looks like a great place to get tech info. I have 3 diesels. 82 300sdt, 83 300dt, and a 88 ford ranger with a 85 300dt. the 82 is a parts car right now until I get the interior worked. the 83 300dt is my wife's car. it's in great shape other than paint and is a daily beater. the 88 ranger is the interesting one. It has an 85 300dt engine and transmission, chevy transfer case, and f-150 front and rear ends. It has a 40 gallon wvo tank in the bed, exhaust oil heater, tube in tube heat exchanger, and 6 way valve. It gets 20mpg on wvo or 25 on diesel/bio. I get a lot of questions about this truck and am constantly showing off the engine compartment. No one has seen a 5cyl diesel in a ranger before. oh, btw, it has 6" suspension and 3" body lift as well, so it's up there in the air. The guy that built this monster was a custom metal fabricator and welder, so everything looks great under there.
