Just figured I'd ask here, because I cannot find a specific forum for a 560SEC '87 (if I missed it, sorry). Anyway, I've driven a e30 bmw for a year or so now, but I have the chance to buy a 560SEC for somewhere arround 3500. I don't know much about them, except for:

1. hue heffner used to drive one
2. it's a fat 5.4 or 5.6 liter V8
3. it was the first year of ABS and Airbag (so I hear)

The only catch with the car is that something with the valves burn excess oil. My neighbor said he knew what it was, because he owned a mercedies. Something like a valve sleeve? How much am I looking to spend on that, or can I do it myself?

Is it worth 3500, or should I say screw it? Personaly, I'm not looking for a new car (as I love my e30), but I've been buying and selling cars all summer, so I'm thinking maybe I can sell it for alot more, like 12000?

I am a new member also. Where is the car located,? for 3500, if it is not all beat to death, or rusted, sounds like a good deal to me..if you are mechanically inclined and can replace the heads yourself...

I'm totaly clue-less when it comes to mercedies, or v8s. If you're talking about a i6 bmw, i'm all over it though. It's in perfect condition, and fully loaded... located near atlanta. I was kind of looking for someone who know exactly what it would take, and what it was worth, but thanks for youre input. Are you driving a 560 right now, or different car?

 

oh, i also heard that this car can beat a corvette with a ls2 smallblock from the line, but not from a roll... is that true?
