Welcome Oblioso!
I'm a fairly new, first time MB owner myself, '00 SLK230 I bought last Dec. I fell in love with the car while stationed in Germany from '99 to '03 and vowed I'd have one. The opportunity presented itself and I bit.
You'll find a lot of helpful information in these forums. In addition to this one, you'll probably want to join www.MBWorld.org and www.mercedesclub.org.uk. You'll notice some of the same folks posting in both.
In answering your question, I've found some pretty descent parts places.
www.autohausAZ.com
www.autopartsplace.com
You can also find specialty shops by searching for your model through Google or Yahoo.
Beware though, if you need anything specialized, you may have to get it from the dealer, but always check Ebay. You never know what you'll find. I just bought a new-in-the-box rear view mirror for my car from a guy in England and saved about $120.
Anyway, good luck and welcome aboard.
